Ulysees

The biggest cruiseferry in the world

The world's largest cruiseferry, the 50,938-ton Ulysees, entered service on Irish Ferries' Dublin Port - Holyhead service in March 2001.

Mairead Berry, Ireland’s 25-year old Paralympic Games gold medal swimmer, performed the official naming at a special ceremony in Dublin Port three weeks after the vessel arrived in Dublin from the shipyard in Finland where she was built.

The £100 million Ulysses stands 12 decks high, reaching a height of 167 feet. She is the world’s largest car ferry in terms of vehicle capacity, able to carry 1,342 cars and 240 trucks, but Color Line’s sister ships Color Fantasy and Color Magic are the largest ferries in terms of tonnage.

The interior of the ship is based on the novel Ulysses by James Joyce.
