The AVE rail service connects Madrid and Seville in 2hr: 15m, with several services each way via Cordoba. Trains also stop at Ciudad Real and Puerto Llano.

By car, motorways connect the north and south. Main roads between major cities are generally fast but avoid the rural roads as these are often sub-standard.

While a visit to Barcelona and Madrid is a must, there is so much more to see, including the magnificent cathedral in the ancient city of Toledo and the El Greco art collection in the fortress of Alcazar.
