DFDS Seaways issues roadworks warning to Dover-Dunkirk travellers
DFDS Seaways is warning passengers travelling on its Dover - France ferries over the next week - the busiest of the year - to be prepared for heavy congestion because of roadworks.
It suggests adding an extra house to the journey to Dover because of lane restrictions at the Roundhill Tunnels in Folkestone.
Chris Newey, DFDS director of passengers services for the English Channel, said: “We are extremely disappointed that the lane restrictions at the Roundhill Tunnels in Folkestone on the A20 have not been at least temporarily resolved ahead of the busy holiday period.
“The forthcoming week is the busiest of the year, and we want to ensure that all families are able to get away on their summer holiday, without having the potential stress of missing their ferry crossing.
“With our ferries at full capacity, we will struggle to accommodate people on to later crossings if they are delayed by the roadworks.
“We want to advise passengers to add on at least an additional hour to their travelling time to take into account the congested roads around the Roundhill Tunnel, or alternatively, to use the A2/M2 route to get to the Port.”
