Hovertravel joins with National Express to connect the Isle of Wight to London

Hovertravel has joined forces with National Express to connect the Isle of Wight in its entirety to London on a single ticket

In response to customer demand, Hovertravel has created a through ticket from anywhere on the island to London, via the hovercraft.

This new service, operated in conjunction with Southern Vectis and National Express alongside Hovertravel, was officially launched on 29 July.

By working together with National Express, the UK’s largest coach operator, Hovertravel has secured a much better service than was previously available to the UK’s capital with addition of two essential connecting routes to the UK’s two biggest airports.

As well as low-cost fares and a guaranteed seat, customers travelling with National Express coaches will benefit from business-class leather seats, the comfort of air-conditioning and the convenience of plug sockets onboard.

The new Hovertravel and National Express partnership links the Isle of Wight to London on one ticket

Loretta Lale of Hovetravel explains: “We appreciate that the Island community considers a connection to London as an essential service and we have been working with our transport partners to create a seamless journey.”

For Islanders, this through ticket is easy to use and simple to book. Travellers catch a Southern Vectis bus from anywhere on the Isle of Wight to the Ryde Hover terminal, hop on the hovercraft to Southsea and then get on a coach from Southsea Hover terminal to London Victoria.

Loretta continues” ” This connection to London and both Heathrow and Gatwick airports is an excellent example of how we are continuing to offer very attractive travel products for the Island community. Additionally this is an attraction and convenient link to anyone wishing to visit any destination on the Isle of Wight. “

National Express UK Coach Managing Director, Tom Stables said: “With the summer well under way, holidaymakers from the Isle of Wight can look forward to getting to the capital or the airport without the hassle of buying multiple tickets. As the UK’s largest coach network we are committed to growing our partnerships so more people can access comfortable, convenient and great-value transport.”

In addition to this, National Express coachcard holders can save a third off the cost of their ticket to the capital.
