Transeuropa suspends Ramsgate-Ostend Saturday sailings
Transeuropa Ferries is understood to have cancelled all all Saturday ferry sailings between Ramsgate and Ostend until further notice.
This follows quickly on the heels of Transeuropa and LD Lines ending their partnership on the Ramsgate-Ostend route.
The partnership began in March 2010 with Transeuropa responsible for freight traffic and ship operations and LD Lines managing the passenger business on the route.
Transeuropa Ferries said the two companies had decided to stop sharing vessel space so they could each “better adapt to market demand and capacity requirements”.
Transeuropa Ferries’ General Manager, Dominique Penel, said: “We have been very satisfied with the co-operation with LD Lines, but it is the case that current market conditions and tonnage requirements have contributed towards this decision.
“Both companies will continue to study opportunities to renew commercial agreements and work together again in the future.”
The Ostend Spirit ferry, formerly Norman Spirit, will be returned to the LD Lines’ fleet.
Transeuropa Ferries will continue to operate a Ramsgate Ostend freight and passenger ferry service using the Gardenia and Larkspur.
