Sail to Calais for £1 this weekend

DFDS Seaways and LD Lines are offering passengers the chance to travel from Dover to Calais this weekend to celebrate the launch of a new cross Channel ferry route.

The first 1,000 cars (with up to four passengers) travelling from Dover on the new service, which begins tomorrow (17 February), will be transported to the Continent for just £1 on quoting special offer code “LAUNCH” on www.dfds.co.uk.

In addition, passengers can return from Calais back to the UK on any date or sailing time in 2012 for just £29.

The new route will operate up to five times a day, with the first sailings aboard the Norman Spirit. A second ship and additional sailings will be added to the schedule at a later date.

Chris Newey, passenger director for the English Channel at DFDS Seaways, said: “We’re really excited about working with LD Lines to offer passengers the opportunity to sail with us between Dover and Calais. So much so, that we’re celebrating by offering passengers the chance to travel to Calais for just £1 all this weekend. We have 1,000 car spaces available and with each car able to take up to four passengers, it’s a great way for families to travel without breaking the bank.”
